If you are one of many individuals who are struggling with their new year’s resolution on living a healthy lifestyle, here are some useful tips on how to keep up and maintain healthy habits every day.
Tip #1: Refocusing on the easy task
One of the biggest factors why it is hard to keep up with a healthy lifestyle is because of the assumption of stepping up from the basics. These basics may include:
- Practicing basic exercise every day.
- Eating the right food according to RENI or Recommended Energy and Nutrient Intake.
- Having enough sleep every night.
- Avoiding drinking too much alcohol.
- Avoid eating too much sweet.
If you think you are now struggling fulfilling new tasks of living a healthier and happier lifestyle, you should try to refocus on the previous tasks. Re-establish the feeling of determination by practicing the basics again; however, this time, it has to be with a slight change in difficulties. For instance, you should slightly step up from the basic exercises to low-impact cardio workouts. And as for your diet, start again with realistic expectations, re-establish your diet plan, try to avoid unhealthy food, and avoid something that will ruin your diet.
Tip #2: Stay positive
Positivity will help you keep up with your health plan. No matter how difficult it is to keep up with a healthier lifestyle plan, your optimism will help you.
Tip #3: Stop and relax
Sometimes you need to stop to keep up with your healthy lifestyle plan. Decompressing will help you refocus on your healthy lifestyle plan. Have a “cheat day” per week, per two weeks, and per month, until you can keep up a healthy lifestyle and or until you forget your previous bad habits.
What is a “cheat day”? This day is the right day where you can relax from your current health plan; you can eat what you want but with moderation, you can skip from exercise, and more.
Do not push yourself too hard. There is a time to stop and relax.
Tip #4: Create an easy and realistic plan
Living a healthy lifestyle is easier said than done. This means you have to avoid some things that you are used to; for instance, smoking. Frequent smokers can’t easily quit smoking; it is one of human addiction that is difficult to control no matter how determined you are. So, if you want to quit smoking, you have to make an easy and realistic plan; one way to forget the feeling of smoking is eating chewing gum whenever you are tempted to smoke.
